1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Plotwind ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

2. Description of Service

Plotwind provides AI-generated book summaries personalized to your reading progress. The Service allows users to:

• Generate spoiler-free book recaps up to a specified stopping point
• Track reading progress and manage bookmarks
• Store notes and highlights related to their reading
• Access premium features through paid subscriptions

3. Account Registration

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete registration information
• Maintain the security of your password and account
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you must have parental consent to use the Service.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Infringe upon intellectual property rights of others
• Attempt to circumvent usage limits or security measures
• Use automated systems to access the Service without permission
• Redistribute, resell, or commercially exploit summaries
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users or our staff
• Upload malicious code or attempt to compromise our systems

5. Subscriptions and Payments

Plotwind offers both free and paid subscription tiers:

• Free Tier: 3 summaries per month, resets on the 1st of each month
• Premium Subscription: Unlimited summaries and additional features for a monthly fee
• Summary Packs: One-time purchases of additional summaries that do not expire

Payment is processed through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel. You may cancel your subscription at any time from your Profile page; access continues until the end of the current billing period.

Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us within 7 days of a charge if you believe you are entitled to a refund.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, features, and content (excluding user-generated content and third-party book content), is owned by Plotwind and protected by intellectual property laws.

Summaries generated by the Service are for your personal, non-commercial use only. You may not reproduce, distribute, or sell summaries without our written permission.

Book content summarized by the Service remains the intellectual property of the respective authors and publishers. Plotwind does not claim ownership of any book content.

7. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Summaries are generated using artificial intelligence and may contain errors, inaccuracies, or omissions. While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee that summaries are error-free or complete.

Summaries are intended as reading aids and memory refreshers, not as substitutes for reading the actual books or as academic references. Use summaries at your own discretion.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the past 12 months
• We are not responsible for third-party services (Stripe, Supabase, etc.)

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Plotwind, its operators, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms or for any reason at our discretion. Upon termination:

• Your right to use the Service ceases immediately
• We may delete your account data after a reasonable period
• Provisions regarding intellectual property, liability, and indemnification survive termination

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the jurisdiction where Plotwind operates.
